Yeah have seen 2 and was talking to the owner of and he regrets he ever bought it. Because of its limited usability it has big depreciation.

Allways a hotly disputed topic on Motorhomefacts as to wether an A frame is legal.

Seems to be a bit of a grey area in the UK and frequently people have trouble in Spain with the police.

I get the impression that some sort of definitive legislation is being considered by the EU.

Worth checking some of the threads before you spend your money.

Have seen the topics on A-frames, in fact it is hard to miss them :)

I used one for years here with no problems whatsoever. But wouldn't bring one to France etc just in case.

Robbie he claimed there was very little usable space in it for the size of he vehicle. Also he got a shock when he tried to trade it in.

Yeah Ally A frames for some reason like a red rag to a bull as far as the French Police is concerned.

Been to France 5 times for 4/5 weeks and 3/4 sites at a time, since "07 with an A frame, and never had the slightest problems with les Gendarmes or customs at the docks. We tow a Fiat Multipla on a Brian Cox braked Aframe and, yes, I can reverse with no probs. Dunno" if I"ve just been lucky but, on couple of occasions,I"ve had a chat with Police (French and English) who just seemed interested in how it worked. Did have a couple of "hairy" moments with other drivers not realizing we were "connected" and trying to get between the car and the motorhome and you do have to remember how long you are, that"s where a rearvew camera is essential ! :o I"m aware that Spanish police are not too keen on them, "tho I think that"s more a case of them being bloody minded and wanting some "fine" money.

Paul I think you have been lucky which ever part of France you were in. There's no problem in the UK but on one holiday 3" years ago I was pulled over 3 times my details taken and told it was illegal to tow a car like that in France and I was warned. That's why I bought a trailer for the car.

Cheers Jack, maybe , as I said, we were lucky. It was pretty much western coast and into Paris, Disney etc each time. Tho" I"d have thought they"d have "done" me as we"re really hard to miss, being a 30ft RV with a Toad is a bit unusual.
