Sonis Intruder Wireless Alarm

Has anyone come across the portable Sonis Wireless Intruder Alarm for Motorhomes and Caravans? It looks an interesting bit of kit for around £100. It has all the benefits of more sophisticated security alarms without the wiring or sensors.

I have talking to the gentleman before Christmas who markets this product in UK and I am in the process of bringing 10 of these into my shop for sale. Should be in around 2 weeks time.

Sorry to hear about this.

To be honest if they came prepared to remove a safe it wouldn't have taken them too long to remove this alarm system as it seems to be supplied with a mounting bracket. Can't see any mounting bracket being as strong as a safe anchor.

I was more interested in it as it can be ON while you sleep. After a few drinks I need something very loud to wake me! Although would need to disable it to pee.

Also if hidden correctly it would would make quite a bit of noise before it was found.

Would the sound not be coming from it?
I suppose in a small space it could be bouncing off all the surfaces making it more difficult to find...

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the Sonis Compact need to be wired-in or professionally installed?

A: No. The Sonis Compact is a fully integrated, pocket-sized lightweight unit, and requires no wiring, installation or external sensors. Just plug and play!

Q: Won't the system be activated by sounds other than an intruder attempting to gain entry?

A: No. The Sonis Compact recognises the unique 'sound signature' of your property. It automatically blocks out all other sounds so that it is not activated in error. It's also pet-friendly and will not be set-off by your cat or dog.

Q: Is the Sonis Compact only activated after an intruder has entered the property?

A: No. Unlike conventional burglar alarms, The Sonis Compact is activated BEFORE an intruder enters your property. Installed in a discreet location, the alarm uses an ultra-sensitive built-in sensor to monitor the entire building. Listening through floors and walls, it instantly detects when any door or window is opened (even when that sound is inaudible to the human ear). In the event that an intruder attempts to gain entry, it emits an ear-piercing high decibel alarm that is heard loudly throughout and beyond the property.

Q: Can the Sonis Compact be used in more than one property?

A: Yes. The Sonis Compact is instantly portable and quick and simple to set up and operate, making it ideally suited to be used in multiple locations. And because it doesn’t require wires and sensors there are no redecoration costs or expensive installations to worry about. This also makes it great for rented properties and short-term tenancies. The Sonis Compact delivers dependable intruder protection for houses, flats, commercial properties, offices, holiday homes, caravans, self-builds, boats, motor vehicles, garages, outbuildings and workshops - in fact anywhere that’s dry and has a source of power.

Any alarm can be disabled, as easy to lift the bonnet and remove a siren as it would be to remove seat cushions or wherever you have it hid I reckon.

Other alarms do the same thing like the strikeback alarm but at 500- 600 pounds, the Sonis looks very intriguing at approx £150

I can just see me setting it off though everytime I open the bathroom door during the night :)

Willie,

I read them, but unless I am reading it wrong, the opening of a door would still set it off? IE: toilet breaks during the night.

But if the sound signature knows you opening a door, how does it know between me opening it and someone that shouldn't be? :)

I'll wait till you get more info :)

Update on Sonis Intruder Alarm

 ·
Posted: 08.01.2013  ·  #20
Ally. I rang this morning to get the update on the Sonis . Yes it will set the alarm off if you have to go in the middle of the night, although It fobs off immediately you press the button if you can remember to fob off before you get up. Mark may be correct in saying it would be useful if you are leaving the Motorhome unattended for a few hours. Still cheaper than the Strikeback and doing the same job.
