My 4 year old van failed its CVRT, track Rod end.
I spoke to James at Anchorpoint (I did not buy my van from James but he has always been very helpful) and he said he takes his vans to EMC for complex work.
Booked the van in for a full service and replace track rod and re do the tracking yesterday. It was peeing down and I wasn’t looking forward to standing around in the cold for a few hours so I was pleasantly surprised when the mechanic said I could wait in the back of the van whilst it was being serviced and on the ramps. So back to bed for a couple of hours full service completed, track rod sorted €329 paid and back for the retest.
I used to pay more for annual service in Devon every year and that wasn’t a Fiat main dealer either. So I was happy with the price, happy to find somewhere close to me that could lift my 7.4 m long over 3500 kg MH and happy to be told before I arrived it would take 2 hours which it did.
Handy if you are in Clare or Limerick and need work done on your van.
Also impressed by Clare Castle cvrt ctr. Who did the retest when I turned up 90 minutes earlier than my appointment time.

Track rod ends gone in four years!!. That shouldn't happen particularly in the relatively low mileage done by motorhomes.
The ones on my 2005 Ducato with over 130k kms done are still in fine fettle. I did need a wheel bearing last year though and front discs and calipers a few years 🙄, probably all the long steep hills in Europe.

The guy who did the cvrt was surprised it needed replacing but he said it can happen and in fairness I have been on some fairly bad road surfaces. Van has done 17500 miles which should have been 24000 if my winter trip had not been thwarted.

It's a gem of a place for the DIY mechanic who works at something else 9 to 5, open until 8 on weekdays, all day Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Very rarely that they don't have what you need in stock (within reason) but they'll almost always have it next day if they don't.

I would have to also agree, I've dealt with Bearnard and the lads, since they opened in Kylemore road, they have no problem bringing stuff home with them for you to collect if your stuck.

Got a clean bill of health today from the test center good for two years 👍 And then seen the news that county travel aloud from the 12 can't wait. I'll be like Usain Bolt out of the blocks 😆

The roads will not know what has hit them in the coming weeks, but there will never be a more important time for us all to respect other people's feelings.
Our own country should be here for all of us to enjoy but that does not give any of us the right to sh-te on our neighbours.
