Dolmen insurance

I have just received my renewal notice for my policy due 6th March.

Last year I paid £247. This year it has risen by £50 to £297. I have not made a claim in the last policy year.

Any one else had a renewal? Quite a huge jump. I quite like Dolmen, I have had around 10 good years of service and 2 well handled claims in that period. Their policy I feel is quite comprehensive and has been good value. On a few other occasions I have dabbled with online quotes from others but they nearly always want you to phone them, I don’t particularly want to go down this route.

Comments welcomed.

Davy

Mine has been £297 for the past 4 years with Dolmen. It's £247 + £50 admin fee.

You are absolutely correct jmac. I was looking at the renewal email on a phone. They show the 2 years differently ie, this year inclusive and last year the base figure. A curious way to illustrate it. Clearer now on the bigger screen of my iPad.
Anyway I am glad to hear it hasn’t changed, as I said earlier, I am quite happy with the extent of cover and level of service by both Dolmen and AXA.
Thanks for the replies.

Dolmen give a good discount for increasing your excess. I paid around £240 last year for a £500 excess.
The way I look at it, I wouldn't be claiming for a small claim.
I'd rather keep my no claim bonus incase I have to move somewhere else.

Didn’t know they had that option, must remember for next year

I find this rather strange since I asked them for a no claims cert,I have been with them for 5 years, and was told that it does not apply to camper insurance because it is a special rate?

If you were moving to another Ins company they may ask if you had any claims in the last 5 years.
That's what I meant by keeping my no claims bonus. Small damage under £500 I wouldn't make a claim.
So there's no in me paying extra premium for a £100 excess.
I go for the reduced price with higher excess £500
Get a discount aswell for I.C.C.C. membership.
Renewal on the 1st March so I'll post the 2021 price then.

Guess the main part of the discount you are getting is for ICCC membership and that any discount to increase the XS is smaller
