Hi there, I am new in this forum. We are a couple with a dog, we will come from Spain to Dublin and we would like to find some post to park our little camper where we can reach the center of Dublin in bicycle.
I read posts in this forum about Harbour Howth but I would like to know if I have to pay to park there, and if it is a safe place.
I found in google maps a parking in the sea of North Bull Island, do you think this could be a safe place to sleep or leave the camper alone?
And, is it normal to go in bicycle in Dublin? are there cycle ways?
Are there unsafe places in Dublin?
I hope your advice.
Thanks

Welcome Nico,

A lot of Motorhomers stay at Howth Pier, have been there myself and can recommend it. There is no charge yet but they are talking about implementing one although that might be a while yet.

I'm sure some of the members closer to Dublin can help with the other questions - enjoy your trip to Ireland!

Hi Ally, thanks for your replay and the information.
Do you know how much it would cost to go by train or metro from Howth to the center of Dublin?

Howth harbour is the place to stay. Bull island very quiet & dark to leave a motorhome unattended. Can also have boy racers late at night time. Direct dart service into centre of town from Howth harbour. Not sure of cost, few euros maybe.
Parking motorhome in Howth harbour is free at the moment.
Enjoy your holidays

Thanks for your answers @60rubberduck @eirebus

If I do not find place to park in Howth Harbour then which another place would you suggest to park free a camper in or close to Dublin? safe to sleep

I could park in any street from outside any house? or there are restrictions about it in Ireland?
For example in Spain if there are white lines or no lines any car can park there (not only the car owner of that house) You can do this in Ireland? or take precedence owners to park in their door?

Thanks

Another question
Where do you fill your water tanks in Howth?
is there water usually in gas stations. When I traveled I found many places like France where it is so difficult to find gas stations with water taps to fill clean water tanks.
But in Spain is very simple in almost any gas station there is free water. Usually where do you fill water in Howth or Dublin?

there is a water post in howth where the boats connect to for water.
be careful when filling as its very powerful, its like a hydrant.
best way is to fill a container then pour into van.

return to dublin for two people on the dart is 9 euro in total.
20 min journey.
