I emailed Irish Ferries last night asking when they would provide details on the availability of bookings for the April/May period and the September/October periods as I understood bookings carried forward needed to be made by the end of December.
I got this reply this afternoon,

Hi David,
We are expecting to have these dates available in the next couple of weeks.
However, in the circumstances it is no longer a requirement to book by the end of this year. You can make your booking using your credit in 2021 if you prefer.
