Just got this message when I tried to reply to a very helpful member who sent me a private message... “”Sorry! You have to write at least 50 posts in our forum before you are able to create or reply to private messages.“”

Why is this !!??

To be fair this was to stop the Facebook scenario where you registered and became everyone in the world's friend.
This is a forum where proof of authenticity lets you share your experiences..
Keep in there and become one of the genuine posters who keep this forum at the forefront.

To be honest I think 50 posts is a little too much. There are tons of us who participate without writing posts all the time. Some people like to stay in the background except when absolutely necessary, others love posting.

Other side of this is, if nobody posts, there is no forum, so everyone should participate as much as possible

Also If this Forum gets facebookites you won't get as many useful responses to your questions, as most of us will not be on this fofum, so stick with us you only have 47 to go ;-) .
If you need more info from the person who sent you the PM. you can always post a Thank you, can't answer your PM yet, but I didn't quite understand all of your message, that gives them the chance to respond again, without anyone else knowing.

Thanks Trevor will def phone you to discuss your experience of the Carado and upgrades, it’s been a learning period since March! I am busy with tradesmen in the house at the moment so will contact you nearer end of month, maybe meet up...if we are allowed! I’m only up the road in Saintfield.

This was brought in to stop spammers. They joined the forum and messaged every single member with an unwanted spam message. It causes a lot of work to rectify.

Professional spammers can create a new topic and can create a large number of posts automatically very easily. Hence the high number of 50.

It also stops the undesirable action we had that someone seen a concert ticket for sale, an existing member was frantically trying to get one, this person registered and messaged the person selling and got the ticket. The existing member lost out. The new member was never seen again.

A new member can always use email. A forum is nothing without posts. Every rule is created for a reason and isn't created without thought.

Unless it is personal to either the sender or sendee I really dont understand why use the PM function this incident was
" discuss your experience of the Carado and upgrades"
Better this be on the open forum for the benefit of all members
