I use the £10 Smarty deal as well. Decent basic coverage all over Donegal and Cork, so I assume most other locations in the south too. Added bonus is I can tether to iPad etc and also put the sim in the mifi and stream to my TV via a cheap Roku box.

Worth thinking about as it is a rolling monthly contract, so it could be suspended over the winter if you lay up your van.

They seem to be good deals. Does it allow for roaming within the allowance?

Does this work in a mifi unit? I just got a tp link and my gomo.ie sim connects but it says it doesnt have Internet. Is this a northern deal or a southern deal? My wife and I are gonna travel around Ireland over winter and need some Internet. Anybody know of any good data deals that aren't Gomo?

The smarty deal is a Uk one. It is the budget version of 3 or Three. I use it in my phone in N. Ireland. Just before the original lockdown I used it in my 3 mifi in Wales and England.
Later in the year it worked in Cork, but sadly did not get to try it in France this year.
Just be aware that Three Uk is a different company to Three Ireland. I don’t know if smarty is sold in the south as part of the Three there.
One benefit is that being a rolling monthly contract, you can cancel if it is not working out for you, or vary the price and amount of data each month. I assume you could simply stop the contract in winter and start in the spring again, but I use it as my phone and would not want to lose my number.

I'm on 48.ie at 7.99 per month and finding it very good. 100 GB per month and can be used in a mifi unit. All calls and texts to any Irish number. PM if you like it and I'll send you a link so that both of us get a month free.

With so many people working from home there must be a lot of mobile data going unused as people’s phones are using their WiFi instead. Might translate into cheaper data deals to coax people to sign up?

You're welcome. If you go to the 48 website there is a lot of advice on setting it up. If you're using the SIM in a mifi you'll need to turn SIM pin code off using your phone before putting it in the mifi.

The unlimited data is for the uk only in the eu it’s limited by a fair usage policy of 20gb a month.
After 12 months it could revert to £20 or you could take a different deal that’s available then.

Been with Smarty now a fair time and never had any problems
I have the cheapest 2gb get money back deal and whilst not touring get most of the £2 pm back. to cover when out and about (oh boy when was that) I have purchased a block of data and that covers me, this does not have an expiry date and can be added at any time. I did use my phone when over a couple of years ago but sorry cannot remember who it twinned with.

Well I had a go at this unlimited for £15 but because I’m an existing customer I couldn’t get it as the above link is from a 3rd party and once I use the link it won’t show the offer once I go to Smarty,
However I went on to the Chatbox and conversed with a very helpful Vikrant who offered me 50GB for £12.
I’m currently on 30GB for £10.
Very useful in my garden pub with a firestick, and I may get to use it in the van if Boris opens the gates!

Thanks for the link Jon👍

We switched from Tesco last year after being charged thirty euro for going a few minutes over limit while using one phone as a hotspot.
With Gomo since then, 12.99 each for genuinely unlimited everything...for life.
The 48 deal doesn't say that... there's a time limit on their deal I think?
