Yes, no problem. At weekends it can be packed. We just go during the week.

So we are down emptying the RV at The Commons today like we do every week (full timers) and I was approached by a guy from the Council. He said that no-one will be allowed to park at The Commons from 12 midnight to 6am and this is going to be enforced by the Council. Disappointing.

I believe, having talked to council officials in the past, that the by law to allow more than 12 hour stays was never enacted, but whilst sensible use occurred then the 12 hour limit was not enforced. The notorious ‘Mr Smith’ with his complaints to the council together with over use and some inappropriate usage has forced them over the last year or so to erect signage. I cannot see the council shelling out overtime pay 7 nights per week for an employee from midnight onwards to chase Motorhomes, so I would be inclined to take it with a pinch of salt or simply go to Millisle or Ballyholme and I expect you will not be approached.

He made clear that they were going to enforce it on an ongoing basis, but as you say Davy, I cant see any Council worker marching around the car park at that time of the night/morning and every day of the week?

I heard a rumour that Mr Smith was investigated by the PSNI as he was allowing people to use his caravan site during lockdown.

For the life of me I can't remember who told me that.
