I want to import a camper from UK and would apprreciate some/any advice regarding import costs vrt etc. Wont be spending much more than 3/4k and need to know all the ways to make the most cost effetive way. No problem travelling to buy and collect but someone told me vrt depends on weight etc....I will be looking for a two berth small unit.
Any help most appreciated...Happy Christmas

Sorry can't help you, I'm sure others will know.

the VRT is 13.5 % the problem is how do you reach a value for the tax, look up revenue.ie they should have all relivant info ,, there are plenty of ROI reg vans at home at the moment it may be easier to buy 1 of these look up usual websites etc.

You must have a invoice from your seller then contact your motorhome club with al the details of the vehicle and they will estimate the VRT for you . The rates have changed recently in that awful budget but revenue guyz have not got a clue about valuation of motorhomes so they contact the clubs for this and all the clubs will help obviously if your a member you will get better service.
Suffcient to say you will NOT pay 13% VRT but considerably less .Bear in mind you MUST present the vehicle for VRT inspection within 24hrs of importing and have all the docs with you as they are very finicky about this . A DOE test cert €88 has to be obtained before taxing it also as it is a new rule from 2012.
Try the Motorcaravan Club of Ireland and ask for Bill as he was most helpful to me on my import.
Best of Luck
