Glad you found the discount helpful :)

I have no experience of France except for a trip to Calais on a Hovercraft when I was in primary school :D but I am sure others will be along with their advice soon.

Enjoy your trip!

Edit: Plenty of French links in our LINK's Section HERE

Hi Carol

I find this site very handy for French Autoroute ( Motorway) information
http://www.autoroutes.fr/index.htm?lang=en

On this page it is possible to calculate your Peage (Toll) amounts
http://www.autoroutes.fr/en/routes.htm

It is now possible to pay almost all French Autoroute Tolls by credit card at the barrier. It is a very fast system but they do take cash if you prefer.

If you really want to be organised or plan well ahead use this http://www.leparticulier.fr/up…s-2012.pdf

It is currently 2012 prices so you can either wait until it is updated for 2013 or use these prices as a guide. They don’t change that much but a new Autoroute could be opened by then.

If you are taking young kids you will probably use camp sites rather than Aires.
In southern Brittany Camping Du Bohat in Sarzeau was nice when we used it with the kids but that is a few years ago. It is handy to Vannes for shopping and Carnac for history. http://www.camping-sarzeau.com/en/services.php

In Vendee Bretignoiles-sur-mer is a nice place. Camping La Trevilliere is part of the Chadotel group who have several sites near beaches. http://chadotel.com/en/campsit…evilliere/
Or
If you are wanting to be within walking distance of a beach try almost any site in St Jean du Monts. If you use goolge maps you will see how many there are along the coast.
There are loads of campsites so don’t worry if you don’t book in advance. We have always found somewhere to stay.

I am sure you will get loads of advice on this forum as many of us travel to France every year.
If you have any questions just ask..

Very Useful Mark. Havnt seen you in a while. Me Mary and Natasha are still planning to go to France in 2013 On July 16th ish. Havnt a clue were to go yet. Will be crossing Roslair to Cherboug with Charlie the dog. Probably go down as far as La Rochelle. Dont want to do lots of driving. So I will be picking some brains closer to the time for some suitable sites. Dont fancy doing Aires all the time as my 14 year old daughter wouldnt appreciate doing overnighters in car parks. Need sites with pools etc etc. beiei

If you're going to The Dordogne, try Beynac, campsite in the centre of town, beside the river, children's play area, pool bar and restaurant.

Enjoy thr trip.

Not really woth it in July Colin as no site give the discount. I must say it is nicer to hand it over on arrival instead of your passport.. It's up to you..

Not all Aires are like here.
Many are in parks and quite nice. I haven't been to any with a pool but plenty close to a beach. I have been on many Aires where there were loads of kids..

We stayed on an Aire this year for €6 per night and friends (with two kids) were staying on a site two minutes walk away for €75 per night.

looking at the trip you are planning there is no need to use toll roads, use the other major roads they are a bit slower but you do get to see more of the countryside ,,there is an aire in st jean de monts with the use of pool in campsite next door e11 to stay and e3 extra to use campsite facilities France is very motorhome friendly so enjoy yourself
