Leisure battery / Mains question.

 ·

[/img]Hi everyone.
We have a very good cond 2000 Knaus Suntraveller. Previously a T4 high roof.
We've done a good few trips but I'm still a little unsure of this question and any advice / tips would be greatly appreciated.

So, just to set the scene.
I've a brand new c class leisure battery and when we are off grid that runs the lights, water pump etc.

We are hooked up here in Keel Sandybanks this week and plugged into the mains. The fridge is working off that and doing well.
But should our water pump and mains be running off that too as it appears they are running off the battery.
Am I missing something?

I also would like to know, if we are plugged into the mains, should that top up the leisure battery or is that only done when driving?

Thanks, I'm no electrical expert but if you wanna know anything about surfing I'll gladly help.

Thanks
Jon

when on hook up the leisure battery will be charged by the on board charger , the pump and lights will still be running off the 12 volt system

Make sure your charger is turned on, probably is but if you suspect the battery is going down, check that.

Ok that makes sense. Would the on board charger be located on the switch panel or down at the fuse board?
Thank you for your response

Depending on make and model the power switch for the onboard charger could be on the unit itself or on the central control panel.
If/when the charger is on the voltage should read between 13.4v and 14.4v. If it's dropping below 12.6v the charger is not switched on or is faulty.

Knaus use Calira charging units with the fuse panel built in, they are also prone to blowing so only mains powered items will work fully and the 12v will not charge

Yeah Keel Sandybanks is full most nights. They are taking the C19 procedures very serious and doing a good job. We were trying to stay on for the weekend but doesn't look like that will happen so we're gonna free camp on the open area which has had a steady flow of campers all week.
Waiting for the heavy rain to clear so I can go kiting!😀🏄🏼‍♂️
