A mystery on off switch in my 2012 Hobby 750 which as far as I can see turns nothing on and nothing off.

Johnmonty (my saviour when it came to fixing my dropdown bed) can you solve this one ???

My 2016 van has the same switch in the same location. The switch is fairly generic, but on my van I have a strikeback alarm and this switch arms the wire loop that encircles the bikes. This loop plugs into a standard 12N trailer plug under the rear bumper. Hope that is clear. It may help eliminate or confirm this usage.

I also have one fitted. It’s a passive switch so you can move about in the van when the alarm is activated.

Thanks guys that all makes sense but just so I understand correctly...............

If I have this at ON and leave my dog (Alfie) in the van while i go to the shops the alarm is deactivated for interior movement but if the doors were opened it would go off?

It could also be the switch that switches on/off the accessories alarm. Check under the van to see if you have a couple of sockets at the rear. You can put a cable from one socket to the other through bicycles etc so if someone breaks the cable or unplug it to steal the bicycle it will set off the alarm.

If it’s a passive alarm switch then you put it in the “O” position when alarm is activated and you or dog are in the van. Why not test it out by activating alarm while in the van with switch at “1”. If alarm goes off when you move around then you’re sorted. Allow 10 secs for alarm to kick in once activated.

Sorry should have got back but was away a few days from my comp when I tested this theory. Anyhow yet again 'Hey Presto' you guys are right its an alarm sensor cut off. When on only the doors set it off and when off any movement sets it off aswwell.

Actually very handy to know for leaving the dog in van or overnights in dodgy places.

Cheers guys
