Hi folks, a quick question for the experienced motorhomers among you, I need to repair my shower tray and I’d like to know if they’re made of plastic or fibreglass. It’s a 2004 Hymer B654. I suspect It might be plastic and if so, probably more difficult to repair. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Simon.

Most are made from plastic but it can be repaired with fibre glass it’s all down to the preparation you need to rub it down with a good rough sand paper your better covering the whole tray which. Means you need to take out the drain hole and glass up the sides and gel the whole tray you can just patch the part that’s broke but it will turn out to be a different colour of white but if your not to worried about that I would just patch it 👍

If you know somewhere you can get fibreglass get white resin give the tray a good rub down with heavy grade sandpaper glean it with acatone wet the shower tray with resin dab the glass with a good stiff brush you can buy a small metal roller which will take the air out of the glass keep the glass pretty wet when it’s dry sand again and paint on your gel coat done as I said before I would do the whole tray

Another option would be take out the shower and stick a sheet of pvc under it with Wurths bond and seal. I repaired the roof of a neighbours Tractor by sticking a section of a wheelie bin under it when a tree fell on it and shattered it in approx 10 pieces. It worked out perfect, a new one was over €1400
