Assuming you have a cabin. Take a cool box on board with all your food and drink. Then you don’t need to leave your room. We also take the travel kettle and toaster and just had the evening meal in previous years. Don’t forget the plug adapter.
As regular travellers on the French routes, we do as mark and Wendy have suggested. I notice from the Irish ferries website that passengers (with a few exceptions) are expected to wear face masks in congested public areas on the boat. They seem to need to be worn in French territorial waters and the port of cherbourg.
Reports of motorhomers already in France suggest that like home, masks are not essential in many places, but some shops, restaurants etc ask for them to be worn. We head out mid August and intend to keep a mask in our pockets along with the personal sanitiser bottles and observe local usage.
we have been doing the same for years, have a good lunch or early dinner ,some times before boarding in the port.then bring some cheese maybe a salad, wine, the breakfast stuff and travel kettle. ( there is always an adaptor in the kettle so we know where there is one)
The only thing we have bought on board are sometimes an overpriced pint or two.
And always fill out the card to let them know they are ripping us off.
