Hi all, looking for some advice!!

We are 60% through a conversion of the Boxer into a camper. We are stuck on the cooker / water side of things. We thought we could use a camping stove for cooking but now realise we need to adhere to this EN 1949 standard. Does anyone know if we have to get a registered gas technician to fit the copper pipping required by the standard or can we do it ourselves, ie will Revenue or the SQI look for a gas technician cert?????

Also do you have to use a combi sink and burner or can we "fashion" our own sink from a stainless steel bowl? Any advice on installation of gas burner very welcome!

Thanks

Gas being what it is i would say that a trained technician would be the way to go and a cert to prove that for ins purposes.
The cost will be very little in comparison to the overall project and it will also be peace of mind.

The gas installer should be RGI ( registered gas installer) for domestic or commercial installations. From looking at the certificates on the walls of motorhome dealers it’s the same qualification for gas installations in motorhomes.

Firstly sinks have nothing to do with cookers /hobs you can put in an oil drum if you like.
The gas is a problem since most RGI people don,t want to have anything to do with campers, It would be best to get the gas fitted and checked, use covered copper in single runs withut connections ( tee pieces )where it will not not be easly accessed in the future . If you can get a gas fitter to check and advise on the pipe runs and then connect up your appliances and do the test.when your ready for the final installiation.
Unless your really good you may have to take things out several times during the build, so no point in getting things tested before you have finished the build and fitout.

It is always helpfull to put your county at least on your profile.anyone who is going to offer you advise will check your profile, for your location, if you have,nt said in your post where you are.there is no point in recommending a really good guy in Donegal if you are in Bantry.

Thanks for all your advice, tis a bit of a minefield but getting there. Good point about my profile, I just updated it.
We are now thinking of insuring it as a normal van for this year so we can use it (we have the insulation and bed already in) before the summer slips away. It will give us more time to put everything in right rather than rushing it as we currently are. Anyone gone down this road before if using it before officially converting it?

Thanks again :-)
