A tail of two services, strangely enough from the same location and the same size cartons. both from Ballymun Dublin to the Hook. see below.
I wanted 12 wooden wall brackets but they only had 9 in stock so as not to delay I ordered the 9 from stock
So follow along.
No 1.
your order with IKEA!
Your order 1089634174 placed on 08/04/2020 is being processed.

On the25th may Dear Customer,
Just to let you know that your recent
IKEA order has now arrived in An Post.   We aim to deliver your item in upto 2 working days.
( I think the word recent was ment to be a joke )
it was delivered on the 27 May 2020 13:57
51Days.

No 2.
I placed an order with Decathlon on the 5th May 13.07.
received an despatch confirmation on the 7th May
We wanted to inform you that your order has been shipped, you will receive it within a few days.
I received it on the 8th.
4 days.

Decathlon excellent service I would and have recommended them, for their products and service in Spain and France and great to see it continued in Ireland.

Ikea. has to be the single most worst service I think I have ever had.
I could have walked to the shop in Ballymun and back, twice in the time it took them to ship the brackets.
And still had 3days to the shop in Decathlon.
would I recommend them. "NO" apparently they do nice meatballs for lunch.

Last Thursday (4 days ago) I accidentally broke the cover of the external shower point

After trawling the internet I settled on THIS, to my great surprise it arrived in the post this morning, the next working day.
Now that certainly is good service. I used my Revolut account to pay and the £51 converted to €58.68, at the mid-market €1 = £0.869, with no charges or fees, much better than a regular credit/debit card.

If you're in the Republic, don't assume the .ie on the website, and the pricing in euro, means that the company is based in Ireland. In January, I ordered some urgently needed sanding belts from Screwfix.ie....five weeks later they finally arrived from the UK, as they apparently have no Irish depot. They'd been held up in the huge Brexit customs backlog...the very situation I was trying to avoid by ordering from an Irish supplier. The job involved was long-finished, taking twice as long with worn belts. Lesson learned!

Screwfix no longer ship to European Customers, they encountered problems due to Brexit and are hoping to resolve the matter soon. They have 12 shops in Ireland, bought stuff from their limerick shop last week when I found out they wouldnt ship. I believe shipping will be from uk when it is resumed.

Screwfix are a trade counter of B&Q, they are part of the Kingfisher group and operate throughout Europe with their Brico Depot stores along with limited Screwfix stores, so no reason to supply from UK when they could supply from France if required!
