Hi the fuel filter in a fait ducato is up on the right hand side of the engine bay it should be a metal casing the pipes are a push on type but you have to remove the filter housing from the bulkhead and change the filter on a bench on the older ducatos it was a plastic housing and you needed a special holder to get the top of the filter and tork it back on there were marks which aloud you to match up on the top and bottom casing not so sure about the now metal ones if it were me I’d take it to my mechanic and watch him do it

I'd leave it to my mechanic to do during service, there's no real point in doing bits of a service yourself, you'll lose track of what needs doing when

Mine is 2016 130 multi jet .j
As I’m in lockdown mode abroad and no idea when I can travel home ,I was going to change oil and fuel filter as I have spares with me , I think I can manage the oil.
Are u telling me that the newer model like mine has the steel housing up on the right hand side of the engine which I must remove first and then remove the old filter from the housing ,barring a requirement for special tools is it straight forward .
I have the time obviously and a pretty good tool box with me .
Thank u all for the information.

These housings are problematic, they’re plastic and if incorrectly installed can cause the system to draw air.
There is a special tool for removal/refitting.
If you google it you will get results explaining the issues and problems with them, if it’s running OK I’d tend to wait until you return.

my 2015 130 ducato has a metal fuel filter the no 77367412 is stamped on the front, it is a throw away filter and comes as a new filter replacement, very easy to do, the pipe connections have push button on the side once pushed in they slide up and off
unscrew the two retaining bolts from bulkhead lift filter remove connector from bottom ,take care not to tip it up as fuel will spill out, fit new filter in reverse order

Thanks all for the details ,I’m going to try it tomorrow now that I know what I should do ,if I feel uncomfortable I won’t continue as I do t want to mess it up as it is running fine or at least it was last time I used it.
Thanks all for the good information.

My 2013 ducato is a throw away filter also. Very easy to replace. Remember when all back in to fill the filter by turning the key to the 1 position for 10 seconds each time, maybe 3 or 4 times if I remember correctly. You'll hear the filter filling.up. Filter is expensive, think unpaid €65 for a UFI one. Cheaper than a fuel pump though...

Our last van had the plastic filter housing ,it went to a friend of my sons for a service everything was ok till we took it to carlingford when pulling into the marina I noted a line of derv on the road the derv was pissing out of it thankfully Daren let me use his workshop with a vice that I was able to take it all apart and get it lined up after googleing it after that I bought the special kit to use when doing the filter ,there are pictures of it on the forum somewhere our last van was 2007 130 multi jet the kit cost me around £80 if I Romberg right ,the talk at the time was fait made them that way so you would have to take them to a dealer so that they would be done right
