A load of hot air

Guys and Gals,

looking for a bit of advice. Since I can't move off the driveway at the moment I'm doing a bit of work on the camper and I want to increase the space for batteries(currently I have 1x85Ahr). To this end I am losing a lot of space to the hotair ducting and am thinking of moving this as indicated by red arrow so it blows out directly near my feet as roughly shown in my picture.

So the questions. Given that this is a PVC(Autocruise Forte based on Ducato) with hotair blown in at 1 - rear seats, 2-shower cubicle & 3- where you see the hole in the left side of picture - why in God's name would they have routed it like they did and then is there any disadvantage of bringing it out where I am indicating? Am in going to roast my feet - I would think not. Would it be too far forward in the camper and I end up heating the cab area - again I think not. However the manufacturer used more ducting that he had to in getting it over to the side and there must be a reason!!!

Thanks in advance

Rory

Picture on the right looks like a fresh air vent for the system. Could you put the battery under the front seat, I have 2x95 ah there

As Eirebus says this does look more like the air inlet rather than the heater outlet.
If it is you would find it very uncomfortable in winter if you move it to where you indicate as from experience it drags in a lot of air all of it cold.
Best to give it a go before you do any work put the heater on gas max heat with max fan and see it it blows out.
If you have a false floor you could do what I did on my last van and let the heater take air from here.
Whilst I was doing this I did find a blanked out outlet on the heater so used the pipe that was used for the inlet to new outlet (Maybe where you indicate) it made my van a lot warmer in winter.

Definitely not a fresh air vent - I am looking to put in 2x120AHr batteries which definitely won't fit under the seat. The location - pictured below is perfect for that and I am also doing a Victron battery monitor, cut off switch for the leisure battery and a distribution block to allow me to properly wire in my inverter and a few USB points and present them with the CBE stuff. It's handy to have everything in the same place. The existing battery was where the drill is ATM and that's where everything will be going. Look at the length of hose that I'll be taking out!

At the back of the van you can see the Truma which gets it return air via the vent in that picture(bottom left). The black piping is the exhaust to the outside. You can see the two pipes going forward. One to the shower/toilet which I will be putting an open/close vent on rather than the permanent open and the other is then going under the van and backup as shown on the original photo.

Just received an order from them this morning for some other stuff!! I'm getting all of the electrical stuff from 12voltplanet which I don't think is the cheapest but has everything under one roof. I 3D print a fair bit so if I need anything for the vents I'll make something up - will definitely need a blanking plate for where the vent was!

Thanks for all the input everyone :-)

Job on I think!!
