Broken flaps

This is what I wanted to post a photo of, my repair to the water filling point flap. I had a new one fitted at the habitation check and the small plastic catch broke again. So decided to fix myself.
I removed the 2 bottom aluminium screws and replaced them with stainless steel ones. Purchased a packed of small round magnets from eBay and placed one on each of the 2 stainless steel screws.
Mixed some Rapid set Araldite and applied to the magnets.
Now closed the flap and held shut with masking tape.
15 minutes later I have a magnetic held closed flap.
No more looking in the mirror at flapping cover.
Will obviously worķ on any flap door electric, gas etc.

Good fix. Hymer use a similar idea for all their flaps, but for some reason the adhesive holding the magnets in place discolours through the flap to show as 2 little greyish circles. However it is a very effective system.

Good solution Billy. Will look at doing this to my EHU cover, the little plastic lip is worn and isn’t a tight fit anymore.

Unusual that you’ve got a stainless steel screw that a magnet gets attracted to, most common stainless steel is non magnetic due to the nickel content.

Its not the adhesive that discolours but iron particles that stick to the magnet through the plastic.
Where do the particles come from ? Brake discs and drums mainly but there are ferrous metals in brake pads as well.
