When my dad still worked at a Ford dealer about 10-15 years ago a set of front shocks failed on one of customers cars. It was a security company vehicle, a Fiesta or Focus if my memory serves, and the set was replaced under warranty due to the low mileage of the car. These things happen but some months later the same car came in with failed front shocks again and it turned out that the driver of that car was routinely taking a route via pedestrian steps "as a handy shortcut". It had been a wide set of steps driven down diagonally.
The driver was surprised and adamant that it should be another warranty repair. Can't remember how the guys at the dealer figured out the true cause: Could have been that somebody had spotted the driver on that unusual route between the two repairs.
