Clearing out a garden shed earlier came across a box filled with old documents and stuff from 80s and 90s that I'd completely forgotten about or even where I'd put them...anyway..going through the stuff I found this pic of a self portrait I'd done in art college circa 1988 or 1989.... no slagging 😛

I'm no it slagging you I'm just a very inquisitive person.


The clue is in SELF portrait Martin ....As in....Done by me. I remember it well, sitting in the hallway of my folks house into the early hours of the morning in complete darkness, I used a candle to light one side to give a high contrast that I wanted....It was done with chalk on black paper. The original was much larger and is long gone, that was a photo I'd taken for keepsake purposes...Thats why I was delighted to have found it after such a long time. I had it kept in the shed to scare away the rodents :P

I once went to art school 50 years ago, but gave up. I have blank canvasses in various sizes but I got a mental block. Then in August 2018 sat outside MH in 2 areas and did these 9 inch paintings, and an another one at Carlingford...but none since.

This week I watched a You Tube tutorial on A crochet “virus” shawl, nothing to do with Covid 19.
It was addictive, spreading and fast no wonder it is called virus. I thought I would be finished by end of lockdown, I did it in 5 days.
An unfinished woodcarving I started 40 years ago, but has been weather-beaten in the garden finally finished it yesterday after a few days work.
Completed 2 jigsaws out in MH, as Nigel says free parking, zero fuel, and odd meal and he still does his daily walk as within the 2km radius
Nigel’s project this week, he turned a lighthouse on a lathe (bought but ever used) and now working on another. So far today he is working on upper light area, not sure what material for base.

So what projects are others doing when we are in lockdown?
