I would have thought digital TV would have killed black and white TV signals

A TV is only a monitor, if it is capable of receiving a signal then it will display it in whatever format it's designed to do.

So if you connect a digital box to it and run the coax straight to it. It'll be black and white.

I would say a lot of them have colour TVs really and are just looking for a cheaper licence. I don’t think their smartphones are black and white!

Read that today ,my mum had a black and white tv licence up until she died even tho she had a colour tv she just kept paying for a b/w no one ever came near her to see if she had a colour tv (go on mum miss her )
