Thanks for the overnight parking tip re Coal Harbour, Dun Laoghaire. Plenty of space, a peaceful night and a fine walk around the harbour walls in the September sunshine the next morning. If you've not been before, be aware of two things.
Firstly, it's not actually sign-posted as Coal Harbour as far as we could see, so stop and ask if you're not sure.
Secondly, if you arrive tired and not as cautious as you should be, take care reversing onto a level space.
The reversing camera and both wing mirrors might show 'all clear'....but as the sun goes down it's possible to smack your rear end into one of the skinny car park lamp-posts.
Oh well, I was looking for a Winter project.....

I think you can also reverse in such a way that your back end overhangs the water, we went down by car to check it out and there was a particularly long MH parked that way.

Google map for Dun Laoghaire harbour , head towards west pier, if coming from left (Blackrock direction) you can turn over the small bridge over railway line, then immediately left, and MHs are parked just before narrow single line track towards West Pier.
If coming from right (Dun Laoghaire end) you have to go down onto N31 at Marine road crossroads, ( past big circular building Commissioner of Irish Lights) and straight on....if you drive along the parallel Crofton Rd I don’t think your can turn right over that same small bridge.
Does this make sense to those who know the Coal Harbour which is within the main West/East piers of Dun Laoghaire Harbour?

Its a lovely spot, great potential, as Boro' man it would be nice to see a Cobh type facility there.
Its locally known as the Coal Quay.
