Rear Air Suspension

Any recommendations for a good rear air suspension system? Im thinking of getting it for our new van, Its 7 metres and has a large rear overhang. My concern would be boarding ferries and grounding it at the back. How many inche's can you gain at the rear?

Have a look at easytop suspension they are the best value air springs I have found so far.

Our ride-rite bags give 2-3 inches of lift at the rear axle, probably a little more at the back bumper.

We also bolted some 1" PTFE blocks to the bottom of the rear bumper to cut down on the metal grinding noises whenever we bottom out! With an 8ft 6in overhang, this happened often!

How much power does the pump consume when on?

This is probably a dim witted question (and I think I know the answer), but does anyone use it to level-up?

Also, if your van has the Alko chassis then a different kit is required. Standard van kit is completely different.

Power consumption shouldn't be an issue, they should be wired to switch with the ignition, once pumped they shouldn't need constant charging.

Was thinking along similar lines but in my case it was more about 'unlevelling' on the driveway at home to stop standing water collecting on the roof.

I have the drive rite system. Can rise up to 4 inches at the back.
Ally, if you fit them to the front, yes you could rise the front a couple of inches. Different system than the rear I think. Same principle

You can get different springs to lift the front a bit

Alot of vans do and it's not easy or cheap to lift them

I can use mine to level from side to side, but only get a few inches variance between them

What kind of suspension do you have in the front Ally?

Airbags are cheap but it's finding the correct mounting hardware is the trick. Maybe your towbar fabricator could make something up for you!

I found a crowd in the US that offer a bolt-on airbag kit for the front of ours for $200 plus delivery. Its a matter of swapping out the springs, for the bag kit.
Another $200 for a basic 4 valve control switch panel (not including pump or air tank). The 4 valves would allow you to raise or lower each corner independently.

We have a meaty anti-roll bar at the front of our camper so I don't know how good it'd be at levelling side to side with the roll-bar in place, but it'd b a cool feature to have for front & back levelling (with a little bit of side-to-side).

It's somewhere down at the very very very bottom of our 'things to do' list though...

It seem's a lot of you have them on your MH's and not a bad word said.....I'm also pleasantly surprised how easy fitting them are.. ...If I could get an extra 3 or 4 inch over stock ride height I'd be happy

We have the VB system fitted to ours by David Byrne, Midleton, Must say it is an excellent product fitted very neatly with all the bells and whistles, It was quite expensive when the previous owner fitted it, I came across a receipt for something over €1500 I think, we also use it to raise the rear end when going on ferries but it don't raise it much, a few inches at the most I would think, you wouldn't use it instead of the levelers to level the van
