Service areas South of Dublin

We are heading to Cork soon and travelling with our year old standard Poodle who gets sick in the van. We need to stop regularly to give him a break. Are there any service areas South of Dublin?

Also, can anyone recommend a good campsite close to Cork, we are planning to stay a few days to give the wee dog a chance to recover , before he gets locked up in the kennel on the boat.

Ahh it was yourself with sick traveling dog, I remember. You remember our story that I replied with?

Well things have improved slightly. We carpeted the MH. But the biggest improvement in him was this, the dashboard squeaked where it meets the windscreen. It was irritating for us but no idea what he was hearing.

I put lubricant between the dash and the window, the squeak went away and the dog for the first time relaxed and lay down!

Never been but I’ve been thinking we might venture south before we get the boat Sextons camping and caravan site is not far, takes dogs €27 inc ehu. Wave crest quite a bit further away but it takes Acsi card so €20.
I would be interested to what other post. We plan on using the aire at Cobh the night before we sail.

Blarney camping is a great site. About 20 mins outside of Cork.
Coming down the M8 , go into cork city and take the N20 towards Blarney.
Google maps will want to turn you off the M8 at Watergrasshill and send you across country on some roads which are very poor.
The other benefit is that leaving Blarney and heading for the ferry, it is a relatively easy run down the western side of Cork city.

If it's a leisurely drive that you want from Dublin to Cork with lots of campsite options, consider the old N9 from Kilcullen to Carlow, Kilkenny, Clonmel to Mitchelstown.
This route has about a half dozen campsites on the way.

N7 has 2 roadside service stations between J4 and J5 the second one is much more extensive. Two more at and after J7. J9 is transition from N7 to M7.
M7 services at J14 and unofficial services at J17

M8 services at J3, J8, J14 and lots of people still use the Horse and Jockey at J6 as a halfway stopoff between cork and dublin.

Garretstown house is another option for campsite, its on ACSI

Thanks everyone for the advice, the services were very welcome , the wee dog enjoyed the comfort breaks, and thank goodness wasn't sick. Thanks Malcolm for the Blarney campsite recommendation, lovely campsite , close to Blarney village. On Saturday an easy drive to the ferry. Will certainly use Blarney again if travelling on Cork ferry.
