Pretty sure there was something like this on MHC years ago, jut wondering if there any any keen readers out there.
In recent years I've been listening to a few Book podcasts, some of which have the author on usually chatting about their new book.

I'm a reading nut. It's the main thing I love about heading off in the camper it gives me so much time to read.

Thrillers are normally my main go too but I think I'm getting too paranoid as a result 🤣🤣 so for September I'm trying to broaden the type of genre I read

Has anyone read the 2 Graham Norton Irish fiction books, his first published in 2016 called Holding followed by his 2nd published last year A Keeper

You're guaranteed to recognise someone in both of these books, both amazing reads.

I can't believe with the amount of time relaxing nobody has read a good book with the exception of a service manual?!

Read every night from a child up until about 10 years ago. Have two books in the van which I have been trying to read. This year has been difficult, we have been having so much fun with great company I haven't had the time to read.

Get yourself to a craic meet and put those books away :lol:

I am sure I'll get reading when the colder days & nights come in.

James Hunt - the biography is well worth a look. Probably the last Paperback I'll read though.


I recently got weary of listening to music & radio out in my workshop, so I registered for audible and I'm listening to my first audiobook called The Fry Chronicles, Narrated by Stephen Fry. It's very good.

Another paperback I would recommend is The breath of Angels written by John Beattie. A true story of an inexperienced sailor embarking on his dream adventure.

I've just finished reading all of the series of books by Robert Galbraith.
The pen name of J.K. Rowling.
Any of Ken Folletts books especially the last 4 books starting with World without end 1111pages ,Fall of Giants just 850 page, Winter of the world and Edge of Eternity 1143 pages
Come back next year for more recommendations. or you could try Ranulph Fiennes. Cold.
A book everyone should have in their van for when you nothing else to do,
Robert Hendrickson's The Ocean Almanc.

Just have a quick read at the reviews on this Goodreads link.
This was Anne's debut novel, again set in Ireland.

Just read ‘The Tattooist of Auschwitz’ by Heather Morris, a very good read.
Reading George Hooks autobiography called ‘Time added on’ now, and being a bit of an aviation buff I read quite a bit of that genre and have one of Alister McClean novels called ‘fear is the key’ and ‘Chickenhawk’ by Robert Mason to get round to yet.

I Bought a kindle a while ago and try as I may I cannot warm to it, must be an actual book for me. Anyone else find that?

Same here Jon, just like maps, proper paper and ink job. The electronic versions are just for people who can't use their brains properly. :-)

This is great, my Amazon wish-list is growing :)

I love the instant side of the Kindle, my wife was a bit of a Luddite, kind of 'can't beat the feel of a book' etc, but not now, reads way more than me, Kindles each now :o

I feel the wrath brewing :-/

I took the kindle with me to Spain last winter, I still ended up in the s/h English bookshop in the indoor market weekly for a book...... you can actually ‘trade it back in’ if within a month for 50% of the purchase price against another book..... great service and a great selection of s/h books.

I remember a chopper pilot telling me that his description of flying a Helicopter in the book, could be used in a manual.

You lot have a fairly successful and prolific author in your midst.
More than twenty books of various genres available as paperback or eBook in all formats. From Amazon, Apple books etc.
Historical, political thrillers, special interest, mildly erotic, character driven, series and trilogy.
All adult and engaging but alternative and non traditional. Many 5 star reviews on amazon.

I’ve literally just finished reading it in the last hour. I thought I knew a good bit about the RHI scandal already but this adds a good bit more detail. A very good book indeed.

I listened to an audiobook of Chickenhawk a good few years ago and it is great of course. I get a lot of cheap or free Kindle audiobooks on Bookbub. I can get my phone to read it out aloud so I can listen to books as I drive.

The Cash for Ash seems to have all gone quiet and as usual none of those responsible with be brought to court and serve a prison sentence. If Joe Blocgs made the same blunder would they get away with it?

That’s because we are having an election, the problem of the whole saga is that all the political parties were involved in one way or another so the jails would be full.

The RHI report is complete it seems but they are holding back on releasing it until 2020 for some reason.

That’s a great read I’ll never trust a politician again not that I ever did but they all had there fingers in the pie ,have read chickenhawk fantastic book also reading the filthy 13 this is the book the dirty dozen was based on these guys never washed wore mochcion hair cuts and refused to meet Eisenhower they where path finders and went into action before the main forces

Just in the middle of this currently. A fascinating read which is about far more than the RHI. Highly reccomended.
