Nitrogen in Tyres

Has anyone put Nitrogen into their Motorhome tyres rather than air? I did today and what a difference it has made to the feel of the Motorhome. I went to check the tyre pressures and the guy told me that Nitrogen was much better. They take all the air out and put Nitrogen in.

I put helium in my tyres last week.
Currently cruising at 3000 feet, no landing strip in sight!

It cost me £12 and took about 15 minutes as all the air has to be taken out. The 4 tyres are done at once.

Seemingly the air we breathe and inflate our tyres with contain 78% Nitrogen anyway......You should have asked for a discount Jack as you only needed another 22% Nitogen :D

I heard somewhere that the reason your tyres deflate over time is that the nitrogen molecules are smaller than the oxygen ones and can escape through the rubber of the tyre over time
Or maybe it was the other way around. I have no idea if there is any truth in it

It is the other way round, nitrogen less likely to escape. Just read an AA review of the benefits which incidentally concluded it wasn’t worth it for normal motor cars as to retain any benefits you would have to continue to top up with nitrogen.

I think it's more about consistent pressure, no matter what the outside air/tyre temperature is!

There is no water vapour in pure nitrogen. It's the water vapour that expands in regular compressor air.
Before anyone highlightes about some compressors being fitted with air dryers I would highlight that air dryers are only effective with regular servicing and maintenance which us end users have no control over.
