We have just returned from a 3000 mile trip in Europe taking in France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands but I'm afraid we cheated slightly as we travelled by car. The most time was spent on Lido which is an island just off Venice and you can drive on it as you obviously can't on Venice. Car ferry from the mainland about £40.00, I did see motorhomes on I and it does have a campsite so I wondered if anyone has ever ventured to that end of the world? They use water buses which take you to Venice and the other islands where you can also use various other boats like water taxis and of course Gondola's which are very expensive. The water buses go right down the Grand Canal so you can be in the heart of the tourist areas. Lido also has a beautiful beach, parts of which are private, for the sun worshippers amongst you. Extremely high mountains, deep valleys, long tunnels and breath-taking scenery will all be part of your journey there and back. Next year perhaps?

Used to go to Union Camping Jesolo, That originally was the summer camp for Auto Union the German car manufacturer which has become Audi they kept the olympic 4 circles which was the trade mark for Auto Union. Everything was spic and span and the pine trees where in a line no matter which way you looked. As Floorman did, we caught the water bus into St Marks Square and you got a tour of the bay past the island where all the dignataries are buried.

We've been to Punto Sabbioni a few times, staying in Marina Di Venezia. Lovely part of the world.
