Motorhome tech wishlist

 ·
Posted: 18.07.2019  ·  #1
Hi all,

I'm considering developing some technology for motorhomes. It would consist of an app which shows data from, and controls, an onboard-device (around the size of cigarette box). Additionally, the app could show data from external devices listed below.

Onboard device features:
• Temperature internal
• Humidity
• Microphone
• Motorhome level display
• GPS (geofencing, tracking, find my camper, etc)
• Vehicle alarm based on proximity sensor
• Interior camera (monitoring kids, pets, intruders etc)

External devices visible through app
• Gas Bottle Level monitor
• Aux battery voltage
• Starting battery voltage
• Fire and carbon monoxide alarm

So essentially, a single app that would allow you view / control the features above :)

Any feedback on these features, or additional features you would love to see are very welcome. Also any links to similar tech would be appreciated ;)

All the above can be done - sussing out if it is worth my while

A wife nagging OFF function?

Can a lot of it be done via Google Home?

Commercial viability is all down to price I would imagine, so yes if the price is right.

Number of Kw of electricity used with a reset button some Acsi sites allow 4kw per day and charge extra for more.

Something that tells you if there are craicers in the vicinity. Then you could meet or avoid

Sounds similar to the Simarine PICO. Their system has an lcd display, that’s a rebadged Android tablet to you and me, and the usual phone apps. Link

I guess it’s all about the range of sensors that can be installed. If you’re just talking about measurement and display that is.

Yes, I'd say some features could. Have you encountered many people using Google Home in motorhomes.

A little note and an internet connection are very effective at reducing nagging. Just right down some numbers eg expiry, ccv and 16 digits and hand it over to her - works a treat! :)

Thanks - it's exactly the type of info I was looking for! Nice piece of kit.

The price point I had in mind for ours is a good bit cheaper than theirs and with more features.

Do you have any experience with one?

Could the levelling part of the app tell you how much to lift each wheel?

No. I wish I did. If have a Victron battery monitor. It doesn’t measure as many things but has a nice app.

Good question! :) I was thinking that the display would be a digital spirit level, I'll investigate adding some instructions. Thanks!
