Myself and SWMBO celebrated 20 years of going to festivals on Saturday at "Our Back Yard" festival. We have had some amazing experiences and seen an amazing number of bands, some massively famous, some not known to us but all with their each entertainment.
From Don McLean singing a Buddy Holly song live to us on Glastonburys Pyramid stage to Super Turbo Ninja Club at Vantastival right through to the amazing place that was the Spirit of Folk festival, Solfest and many many more experiences, it has been awesome, right down to SWMBO tripping up (accidentally) Norman Cooke (fatboyslim) at Glastonbury and sending him into a face full of mud and bringing his BBC film crew into hysterics. Spending time with friends, with other craic'ers with strangers, with toilet cleaners from Somerset, it has been awesome!!
We couldn't of wished for beter experiences, a lot of people will fail to have such experiences and events and I'm glad we didn't........ Blondie waving at us in 1999 from an open top bus, Michael Stype shouting my name at the RDS in Dublin, the naked dance parties, the silent disco's, the ganja, the piano bar, strummerville, the hill of death, the hidden gems that a lot of people miss, the nightime and early morning madness, running into a comedian standing on a tea chest at 4am and standing to watch him tell jokes and do magic wondering WTF! was going on!!
The circuses, the trapeze the clowns everything................ 20 years of amazing memories, too introducing craic'ers to festivals - I think the majority of craicers had never ever been to a Festival.
What a ride!!! one more to do this year, Stendhal, and then I think that's us retiring for a year or two at least. Time for something new. I have a few idea's
But the real reason for this long message is this, I think I have come to an end of my camping, caravanning and Motorhome days, I'm hoping it's just a blip - Julie has been telling me to wise up, but then she does that a lot
