Tramore Aire

We arrived yesterday afternoon in glorious weather having failed to get a space in Dungarven. Tramore was very busy with a lot of traffic and we had to wait until one of the cars occupying the camper van spaces moved. The new allocated bays were originally used for disabled parking and the cars using the spaces yesterday were blue badge holders even though there were disabled bays available across the road. To the rear of the parking bays is a skateboard park which was busy all afternoon and evening and very noisy with a lot of youths hanging about. We found this very unsettling and later having gone to bed several youths threw a heavy traffic cone against the side of our van giving us a fright and causing some minor damage. A half hour later around 2.30am 5 youths came into the skateboard park and started messing around, shouting playing football and using their scooters. I ask myself what are their parents doing? We felt very unsafe and moved at around 3.30am. Whilst I commend the local council for marking out campervan bays for overnight parking, I question their location. Even some of the local Council workers clearing up this morning questioned why put camper vans beside a skateboard park. Given the events of last night and the parking location we will not be back to Tramore.

Can you please report this to the local Garda station.
They are responsible for enforcing public order.
A couple of drive by by the squad and those young lads will go elsewhere.

Ive just sent an email to the Tremor Garda asking them to record the incident and review any CCTV that may assist in identifying the culprits.

Awful for you.

It seems to be one of those things that happen with a new Aire.

We are invading their territory, as they see it, it seems that usually this stuff goes on and then after a while people start accepting the Motorhomes visiting. In your case you didn't have a chance to speak to these individuals beforehand.

I remember a craicer "Digger" saying a very useful thing. When there were a lot of kids around he got out and asked them for a light, then proceeded to have a conversation with them. Not always easy, but I think we need to be seen to be conversing with the community.

I remember the cars in Donaghadee parking beside us playing loud music early in the morning, I remember them driving around shouting Gypo's then driving off at speed.

It all died down after a while and now motorhomes are just part of the community.

Tramore Aire - Garda Update.

Ive been in touch with Tramore Garda and they have confirmed seeing youths in the skate park on CCTV at 1.30am. The Garda have agreed going forward to increase the number of patrols in the vicinity of the camper van parking area which is good news. Unfortunately due to the angle of the CCTV camera the Garda were unable to see the traffic cone being thrown against the van.

Few reviews on the app since your stay, all good reports so hopefully it was a one off.
