Well, we wanted the sun and the heat, so we headed south. Currently sitting east of Valencia by a few miles. It has been getting progressively warmer. Lovely, we said. However it now appears as we have to head back north for the ferry next weekend that we are in for a bit of a heatwave. The worst since 2005 apparently. So Zaragoza tomorrow hopefully, and temperatures expected to be 38 to 40. The question I have is, is it illegal to drive in your jocks 😬🥴😂

Panda, I was really hoping for baguette to come in with some obscure French or Spanish rule, that claims it was perfectly acceptable. 🤣🤣. I really don’t want to end up in some continental prison, in only me jocks 😳😳

Is it sympathy that you are looking for?😄 once you get back to this side of the pond you will wish that you were back there again.
Not sure if you are passing this lovely place called Haro but if you are then take the time to stop off for a night.
We drove down through Zarogoza 4 years ago from Santander to Salou and the scenery was beautiful.
Enjoy the rest of your hollidays.

I wouldn't chance it in Wexford.

On the practical side, if you are using aires, cross reference your choices with public swimming pools.
In France public pools can be beside the local aires.
I see that you are currently in Spain, so bear this in mind on the trip north.
Last year, we moved early in the morning, spent the afternoon in the local pools and then retired to the aire in the evening. We had peak temperature of 44°c with kids on board.
Enjoy the heat, been pissing here all day.

We are in the Vendée , were told by out French neighbors that the heatwave/Cancule is on its way 36c to 38c by Wednesday. That would be too hot for the pup , so are heading a bit further North to cooler weather. Although it was dull and raining earlier, could our French neighbors be taking the pi** ☀, Maybe they have a sense of humour and will all be driving in their jocks !!

Well, we survived our trip through Zaragoza 39° and Pamplona 37° and we landed in San Sebastián, where it is a positively chilly 23°. 🤣
The jocks are ruined, so a new pair are to be sacrificed. tomorrow, if we decide to make another dash. However I think it is going to be quite hot, wherever we can reach to tomorrow. Only one thing for it then, fill the fridge with beer and keep cool that way 🍺🍺 Irun first, for the kitch prezzies

A tip.
After you park up, remove the external fridge grille on the outside wall.
This allows the heat to escape and reduce the pressure of cooling on your fridge.
Although I have a feeling that Daffy has a modified cooling fan installed.
Just remember to refit the grilles before traveling again.

A good tip, but I do indeed. It’s working very well. Fan cuts in at 40° and cuts back out at 32°. The frozen food is still frozen, I even burst a can of beer I put up there to cool quickly, then forgot about it till next morning. Oops. Highest I have seen the reading, which is taken from probe fitted between fins was 52.8°.

32° at midnight last night 100km south of Nantes. Windows open, vents open cooling fan full belt over the bed, still felt very warm. Up in Normandy now in a little spot very close to Omaha beach. Cloudy and windy and about 21°. Gone from one extreme to the other. 🙄
