Gas Installer in the west

Hello all,

Be gentle this is my first post (i used the search but didn't find anything)

After 10 years of tents, I'm close to having my first camper. I traded in my car and have just spent the last 6 months doing a conversion of the VW T5.

I had the SQI guy give me the thumbs up on everything. He came knowing that gas had yet to be connected.

I have a top notch job done on a conversion of a VW T5 to a camper for my family. I believe I have gone to more safely levels than you would find in 'professionally converted van'.

I have 3 drop vents, a gas box (with internal drop vent) and the unit are seriously bolted to the van.

My problem is I cannot find a gas installer. I rang 17 installers today. None willing even to have a look. Two told me "due to new regulations no one will do it for you".

Does anyone know anyone in the west of Ireland that can connect a hob and (RGII) and provide a cert?

Cheers IDD

Hi, IDD
"due to new regulations no one will do it for you".
Anyone of them tell you exactly what new regulations and when they can into force?.
Little rant, A lot of these Guy's won't do anything unless it is standing at eye level some of them even wear slip on work boots so they don't have to bend to tie their laces.
A few to call and try, explain your position and ask if they will do it, or can they recommend someone.

Or maybe give Vanderlust in co. Clare a call. They might help or advise. Looks like you are doing a really good job.

You've managed the rest, why not finish it yourself? Easy to check for leaks, gas pipes are just like plumbing. There is no gas check certificate required, or is there in ROI?
