Camper Van Insurance

I had insurance with the Motorcaravan Club (***** ****), back in the 1990s, I found him not a very nice person to deal with. When my insurance certificate did not arrive in time for my trip to the UK, (bear in mind I paid him in loads of time), I rung him to see what was happening. He told me to go ahead to the UK and that I was covered. As I was a HGV driver I would not go without a certificate of insurance, and I told him so. He took offence to this and the following Monday I got all my papers plus a cheque for the premium paid, and a nasty note which said, go and get your insurance some where else. Very childish I thought. I would not deal with him again. So the moral of this story is, if you have insurance through the camper club, DO NOT question **** **** on any account, or he will throw his toys at you.

Sorry to hear that, but 20 years later is it not time to forgive and forget?

Don't mind me saying, but to me it seems strange that you join up and your very first post is a new topic having a rant about someone in a different club over something dating back twenty odd years ago. Strange. :-/

*** Modorator hat on ***

I’ve removed the name posted in the OP reference. Please be aware there is two sides to every story and naming on an open forum isn’t in the ethos of this one. Please refrain from doing so.

*** Moderator hat off ***

Other than that, enjoy the craic.

Did someone move the website to Facebook for a minute or two when I wasn't looking?

I would love to forgive and forget, but he was the one that left me without insurance, and furthermore told me to go to the UK and that ai was covered with insurance, and all the time canceling my policy. Lucly I canceled my trip. You may love him, to me he is a very nasty character. rainton13

I had a VWT3, beautiful camper, until you know who put me right off camping. Back in the early 2000s it was not easy to get camper insurance, so I sold my campervan, and invested in a holiday home in France, the best thing I ever did, so you know who done me a great favour. I only discovered Motorhome Chat by accident, so I took the opportunity to rant, after waiting almost 20 years to get it off my chest THANKS. I intend to purchase another campervan, if, and only if, I can get insurance that does not require having to have a car as well. We only do less than ten thousand klm per year, and cannot afford two vehicles on our pension. Great site, great information for people of same interest, wish you were around in the 90s/2000s. Excellent work. rainton13.

You can have insurance with Dolmen without another car, it costs more, don't know how much, but it can be got.

Yes insurance can be got without having a separate car insured, but anything up to 1000 euro. what a ripoff. rainton13.
