My modernisation attempt :)

Greetings all :)
One topic I broached when I first joined was whether or not to update the interior of my camper. Nearly all the comments I got were against this :( My Euromobil has / had 2 single beds at the rear and a pull down over the front cab. I suffer with a dodgy shoulder so I always struggled getting in and out of the double and found it very awkward late at night. Our young daughters take the two beds at the back and even when I did try sleeping there, there was little to no room and I was left with about an inch to spare and a locker a few inches above my head. The kids are young and love sleeping in the double, the ladder is a big novelty to them, So myself and my wife decided to turn the room at the back in to a space for ourselves and modernise the rest of the camper while we were at it! I always wanted to paint the units, And after shopping around for a company to come in and do it, all the quotes were in the region's of €1800!! So with some time on our hands we set out to do it ourselves. It wasn't the most difficult of projects although it was time consuming. We used Johnstones Trade Ultra Sealer Primer & Johnstones Satin paint for top coats. I went to B&Q for the flooring which is a special adhesive laminate and quite cheap at €16 a packet. It looked so good that rather than wallpaper we decided to use it on the walls too! Just waiting for new curtains to arrive then I will get the seats reupholstered and we will be all set! We went with a mix of grey and white paint in the front and kitchen areas, I will post more pictures later :)

Looks great, we done similar to ours and have since changed it again. I'll post photos when I get all the finer bits finished.

I struggled with the mind set of changing it then thought, it's mine, if it was my house I'd change it without a thought. We plan to keep it so what the hell 😁

It's now the way we want and no compromises.

A lovely looking job, well done on taking the bit between the teeth. I bet there are many of us out there who would like to make a change to the internal layout but it has never got past the planning stage.

One thing to consider. I notice the mattress seems to be directly on top of the wood, to avoid condensation it's a good idea to have some sort of ventilation between the two. CLICK

It looks the same as my EuraMobil now at the back. It has the transverse bed. I’m assuming there is a shelf to the right of the pictures so giving you headroom. I put a bit of wood here in front of the window to use as a headboard.

That underlay looks great! There was existing ventilation holes under the single beds from the heating system which we rebored and added some new ones too to be safe, But as the underlay is porous I think I will add this too

The old girl looks great Keith,I always think those single arrangement lend to great double setup even if you loose a bit of garage space. Show us a few more pick's when you have the rest done.

Here is another not so great pic, Where you can see a bit of the floor better along with the grey that I have used around the kitchen area. The difference since going white with the interior is night and day!

Fair play to KeithF, in having the confidence in their skills of workmanship. The material cost seems to be quite small but it was Keith and Co, time and eye to detail that has led to this transformation.
The results are a outstanding success in giving a dated wagon a modern bright feel.
There is a lesson for everyone here to learn.
A modern numberplate is expensive to purchase but a bit of our time to refurbish the existing mh is priceless.
Malcolm.

Nice one. Mine has a transverse rear bed too and I like that it has car boot type rams that allow it to hinge up so you can get at all of the garage stuff underneath from inside the van. Amazing what you can fit into a full width garage even if it is not a very high one.

Mine actually never had garage access from the inside surprisingly, So made perfect sense to make the change. Although a friend of mine has a Euromobil with a factory transverse bed which has an access panel underneath so surprised they never tried to incorporate one.

Not all Keith.
It is a balance to find the right mh for the needs of a family at this moment of time.
Sometimes it's a battle to find the balance between a spouse needs and your kids needs, something which I experience regularly.
Your transformation job has ticked a few boxes in my current layout and has inspired me, next autumn to get my ass into gear.
As Ally pointed out in an earlier post, if this was a house situation, we would strip it out, and refurbish it without a thought about its trade in value.
It is very easy to write an expensive cheque on a newer wagon but ultimately it's layout may be wrong in the longer term.
On a side note, I met a cracker recently, one of the original guys who helped in the setting up of mhc who believed that he had eventual found his ideal mh but now with the introduction of grandkids, he is not so sure.
