Most beautiful campsites

What are the most beautiful campsites in Ireland, in terms of natural beauty and having pitches not too crowded together?

I found a few sites that have reviews and ranks campsites. Are they trustworthy?

Camping Ireland. Top campsites are Annalong, Chestnutt, Ballyness, Sandilands, Rushin House

Go Camping NI. Doesn't let you sort by rating, but highest ratings seem to be Rushin House, Ballyness, Carnfunnock, Carrick Dhu. Of course NI only.

We were just at Kilbroney Caravan Park near Newry. Decent natural beauty, nothing stunning. The pitches were a little too closely packed together and 80% full on a Tuesday in April.

Yes, I have the app. It's fantastic. But hard to compare campsites across the island.

A lot of the web sites you have mentioned cater more for the caravan fraternity who have a different set of needs than those of motorhomers. Personally I would not put Carrick Dhu or Carnfunnock up as some of the best, decent sites but not the best, but as I said thats my personal view.

How about "do you agree with their ratings?"

Have to agree- the comments would mean more to me than the ratings. For example I rarely if ever use a campers kitchen or wash up area in a campsite- prefer to use my own cooking facilities and boil a kettle in the van for washing dishes as usually only luke warm water available.
Things like pitch size, facilities for children such as playgrounds, football pitches and of course proximity to the nearest town so we can head out for a meal and a drink would be more of a priority for me than others.

When looking at campsites abroad I totally disregard the overall ratings on TripAdvisor as most would be influenced by people staying in mobile homes, but instead use the search facility for "pitches, motorhome, campervan, pool, showers, aquatic centre" etc.

So many different types of campsite user with different priorities.

The same applies to the reviews on the App in my opinion.

I have gone to parking spots that got great reviews on the App and thought they were pure crap. Everyone has different requirements and different tastes.

We have just returned from ten days at Wavecrest Camping, Caherdaniel, Kerry. We choose a pitch right by the sea. We had brought the car so set up the van for a static stay. We spent every evening under the awning looking out on Kenmare Bay and the Bera. Last view from bed each night and each morning was that delightful bay with sound accompaniment of the waves and the call of the Oyster-catchers. It was sublime.
I know of no other site with such wonderful views. They recently updated their facilities and with the ASCI card it cost us €20 per night. Hard to beat on this Island.
