That's the type of moron that spoils it for the rest of us. That being put on social media gives all motorhomers a bad reputation and lends itself to support for councils etc. to take action against us. I wonder was it a local van or a continental van...not that it really matters they're still moron's

Bad enough to park in the disabled spot,
But looks like the blinds closed so it may have been there over night aswell,

Maybe the driver is a blue badge holder and was tired when parking 🙄🙄

Thing that really annoys me is that it looks like the space is big enough to park in, Being a blue badge owner I would have loved it if I needed to park.

Also if Garda have put this on why is there not a great big wheel clamp in place >_<

Ffs, a complete muppet.
The space beside the disability parking has grass behind it.
A simple reverse over the grass and they would have been legal between the white lines.

Maybe some anti Motorhome crowd rented it and placed it in that position to ramp up negativity towards Motorhomers. Who took the Photo???
As Malcolm said it could be parked legally no problem.

Is there any way it could be checked if a parking fine was issued?
Hope one was handed out to teach a lesson,
Looks rhd judging by the wipers but number plate is not clear,

In this day and age with technology you couldn't take a PIC that bad if you tried,
I have an antique Nokia 3210 that would gave taken a better shot.

A big grain of salt.
I was not aware that the Garda were into this sort of crap.
When you considered you can't send an E-mail to any of them.
I have never seen anyone of these bays vacant in Howth
At 9am a vacant space on a Saturday morning come on.
Where did it come from?

After looking at the picture again and it says tourists included, what do they mean by that? I wonder if foreign Motorhomes or Rented ones are the are the cause of a lot of these issues.

I still want to know what the F..k the Garda are doing posting crap, what about ATMs do your job. If you are going to take photos let's see you tow the van away to the pound and arrest the B..t..d inside.
Do your Job.

Howth Harbour is under the control of the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. In order for the Gardai to enforce speed limits and parking etc the road must be under the control of a Road Authority ie a County Council. The parking "enforcement" aspect in Howth is undertaken by the Harbour Master and is not a Garda matter.

However, common decency dictates that no vehicle, other than an entitled vehicle, should park in a wheel chair accessible spot.

As far as I know no ATM's have been robbed in daylight. I'm sure the Gardai involved keep a lookout for ATM robbers when they are working through the night when the rest of us are tucked up in our beds be they in our homes or motorhomes.

Been looking at the location on Google maps, to get the van facing that direction, they've either come through a no entry sign or done an almost complete turnabout, either way what a tool.

I was initially thinking the herringbone parking didn't lend itself to leaving the rear overhang over the grass but then I looked back at the photo.

They look like really long spaces too.

Howth is a nice area but I dont see the attraction for folks with larger motorhomes? We wouldn't be comfortable parking so far out on the road.

To me its not worth the hassel. Any time we have been there in the moho, even though nothing is said, you still get the feeling of not being welcome. There are that many people visit howth they dont need us i,m afraid.

We used to love Howth and stayed regularly, but it's over 2 years since we last stayed there. It was being abused by a small minority and as others have said there are lots of other nice places to stay.
We're from Dublin so it's not a big deal to us, but it was handy for people coming from further afield to get the Dart to gigs, sports events etc before coming back to Howth for a few drinks or making a weekend of it. But there's no point trying to stay or spend our money where we're not made welcome when there are so many other places that do.

For places close to Dublin for just one night we tend to go to Skerries, Annagassan and Carlingford. Nice pubs and restaurants in all 3 and all beside the sea, nice walks, space for the kids etc. Haven't tried overnighting in Malahide or Greystones yet but have read good reports here. Rooskey is another good spot with full services (EHU, water, cassette toilet facilities).
