Good evening all,
Just wondering has anyone any knowledge regarding export a MH from ROI to UK and submitting a VRT Export Refund from Revenue ? The 'VRT independent vehicle registration tax & motoring tax' website - https://www.vrt.ie/faq/vrt-exp…troduction states:-
'The owner of an EU Classification M1 Passenger vehicle (saloon, hatchback, SUV, MPV etc) may claim a VRT repayment where a vehicle has been permanently removed or exported from the State, and where VRT has been previously charged on a Revenue VRT Category A basis'

Perhaps someboby on here has done or knows of somebody who has sucessfully done this ?

Thanks

Contact revenue in Rosslare and ask the questions and get the correct. Answers and what paperwork they will require as they are the people who would collect the revenue if you were doing if you were doing it the other way.

While a motor caravan (MH) is an EU category M1 passenger vehicle, under the Revenue rules on VRT export refund it is in the same category as a commercial vehicle, which is not entitled to refund, and that's a fact strange as it may seem :-/

That's handy. If you want to bring it in it's rated for VAT but if you want to take it out it's exempt from VAT. Aren't civil service rules and working methods fascinating.

I was wondering about this subject.

I saw an advert online for a camper that had been registered in Ireland exported to the UK.

I have heard of instances of Irish cars being exported to the UK and VRT refunded.

Car was then sold back into Ireland and the proud new owner with their new to them car and the former Irish registration number had to pay the VRT again.
