My CVRT expires end of May. I called a local test center to book a renewal test and wanted to book for the beginning of May. I was told over the phone that booking that early ahead means I will miss out on some of my current valid CVRT period, and that the earliest I should book is two weeks ahead. This didn’t seem right to me but I let him make the booking for mid-May. The actual booking is the day before heading to France. I would have preferred an earlier test date just to give more time to amends on any matters that might arise should the test fail.
I then checked the CVRT website and came across this:
Can I test my vehicle early?
Yes. You can have your vehicle tested up to 1 month early without changing the test anniversary date.
You can also have your vehicle tested more than 1 month early. This will change your test due date to a date 12 months after your vehicle passed the test. We've introduced this facility to give businesses the opportunity to change their test due date to a time of the year that better suits their business needs.
Is that not pretty black and white? It looks straight forward that you can book up to a month in advance without missing out on any validity period. How could the test centre not know this?
