Where is the pond, is it the same place as the look out?
I had planned to visit Dungarvan in the next few weeks, don't think I will bother now, its just not worth the trouble, we will go to some place where we are welcome.

I prefer the look out. I felt that the pond is not entirely appropriate for Motorhomes. My memory of it is that it is right in front of people’s homes. Whilst that does not stop us from parking, I thought that the etiquette would be better to park at the lookout.

I can't imagine why they would stop motorhomes from parking there? We go to Dungarvan quite a lot and I've never seen more than 1-2 campers parked up there. Most times there are NO campers there. It's more of a residential area and a bit of a walk from the pubs and restaurants.

Lets hope they don't put these same signs at the Lookout parking area. That would be a shame.

If im not mistaking, werent the council encouraging parking at the lookout for motorhomes? Always buses and mohos parked there, opposite the pond.

Well.. if you look at all the comments it's amazing to see the overwhelming support from everybody. I was expecting to see a bunch of trolls against us but definitely not the case, so that's a very good sign (no pun intended)

I know in the wrong topic but related, I came trough Ballinaboola Co Wexford this morning and I couldn't believe my eyes ,there is a big signs , Motorhomes Welcome.

As far as I know it's belonging to the Horse and Hound pub opposite the filling station. Not a bad spot for a bit of grub. Plenty of parking around the back of the pub.

An argument could be made for semantics if you identify as a Motorhome owner as opposed to a Campervan owner then this sign does not apply.

Legally the name is 'Motor Caravan' all other descriptions like 'campervan', motorhome', 'camper', R.V., 'dormobile' etc. are just colloquial names. Laws, Directives and Regulations do not permit the use of colloquial language.

I don't care what they are called, I personally don't like parking anyplace where there are signs not welcoming me, also I wouldn't depend on Business's for support either, remember the Business in Dunmore east who were all support and weren't seen when it came to the crunch. I will be avoiding all of those places, When I go on Holiday I want to relax not be waiting for a knock on the door or getting into an argument with some one, Life is too short for that kind of Sh1t.

Interesting piece on page two about an application for permission for glamping pods and 11 campervan bays made in October and just granted. I'm sure it had nothing to do with the putting up of the signs in the first place!

Apparently following a meeting today, it has been decided to add 11 Motorhome parking bays with services!! Not sure if individual or a services bay, At Quanns with the lookout to stay for wild camping.
If it goes ahead, it’s great news

Assuming the parking is going to be on the grounds of the leisure centre, this could end up being a nice alternative example to the setup in Cobh or Portumna while still maximising existing resources. It could help other local authorities see opportunity in their own areas.

Looks promising

Good to also see the official acknowledgement that many don't even need the service bay on short trips and that they're welcome but should use specific parking spaces, I think that's a mutually respectful arrangement for locals and motorhomers. On street parking on residential streets can be a minefield at the best of times, and that's just with neighbours cars.

Overall a very positive step from Dungarvan and a great alternative example when pressing the case for facilities in other locations.

The parking bays will be tarmac with grass separation AFAIK. No EHU's will be provided. A separate service bay for grey and black water disposal plus a water supply is also planned.
Like Cobh, putting out camping equipment will not be allowed and a 48 hour limit will be in place.
