KIlimer to Tarbet Ferry

Hi all
I'm heading to Tralee for a wedding and taking my motorhome. I was thinking of going across the ferry at Killimer to Tarbert rather than travelling via Limerick. I have a Dethleffs advantage and the rear wheels are at least 4-5 ft from the tail end of the motorhome. My concern would be going on or coming off the ferry would the tail end catch on the concrete. Has anyone ever taken this journey with the same type of motorhome. I have taken the ferry before with smaller motorhomes but can't remember the sloe from the ferry

Would I be right in think that the clearance under your rear bumper, would be only a foot or 300 mm?
If so, it's fair chance of bottoming out.

The cost of the ferry is much higher than driving around if you have the time

Jami (strand camping) would Probably be able to advise as he is close to the ferry and he will be sure to have heard the horror stories.
PM him if he doesn't come along.

I used that ferry with our last motorhome which was over eight mtrs long and had no problems,I dont know what the tail overhang was.

It depends if the tide is in or out,
Tide in you will be getting on the ramp at the middle of the slipway,

Tide out and you will be getting on the ramp at the bottom of the slipway which would have a steeper angle,

I crossed a few years back similar size and lay out to your Dethleffs and my towbar scraped the ramp on the killimer side getting off, no damage as the towbar just slid along for a few inches and all was OK,

I have used the ferry several times in my MH no problem but as with all ferrys I go on and off the ramp at an angle. Not heard or seen any damage from people who have arrived here and used the ferry.
