An post are offering extra services which may be handy .
Addresspal, UK and USA shipping from Internet marketplaces which don't deliver to ROI. There is an option to collect from your local post office instead of organising someone to sign for the home delivery.
Returnpal, returns the unwanted items from the same internet marketplaces.
Mailminder, suspend your mail deliveries while you are away. Your post is held in the local post office until your return and then you collect it from the post office.

Malcolm,just keep in mind if you have a large or long parcel they will only do the home delivery. the office collection is not available.
Its still reasonable priced and they will contact you if it is out of their local office collection system and advise you to sign up for home delivery.
The home delivery is a different address.
Then then send you a card with the two addresses on it.

There has been a few recent posts about non Ireland shipping and others highlighting absolutely stupid costs for Irish shipping.
I am trying to highlight other alternatives.

Its also worth highlighting that its great when you get free delivery in the UK and then on Post take over for a few euro.
Just so long as your not in too much of a hurry as it takes an extra couple of days.

I've used Parcel Motel for a few years, one of their benefit is the parcel is available for collection 24/7 at their collection points. They also provide an accomodation address in NI which is very useful for purchases from vendors who don't deliver to the RoI or who have ridiculous delivery charges to the RoI

The good thing about addresspsl from an-post is that it uses a mainland UK delivery address..... makes shipping to mainland UK a lot cheaper in a lot of cases.
Also, leave your default ebay delivery address the address pal one in the UK and you’ll be surprised just how much more stuff pops up on your searches..... a lot of vendors filter out Eire and Indeed NI postal areas...... your addressPal address set as default gets round this.
