Having used this setup in French aires I am wondering would it work out for aires based in Belgium, Holland and maybe a bit of Germany. We are trying to plan our route for the summer 2019.

Aah,Malcolm the Joy's of active family holidays,great multipurpose trailer, add a Zodiac on the trailer and put the bikes on the roof of the car and that could be us 30years ago. :D :up:

We did a bit of Belgium, Holland and Germany a few years back mainly along the Rhine and the Moselle and saw plenty of big units and plenty with trailers watch some the mountain passes though the can be hard getting up and smoking brakes on the way down.
I would definitely go back but only from May to September as I like a bit of sun.

Most of the motorhome parking in those countries are very similar to the French ones , I found Belgium the canals were the best places to park up ,Holland not as many as France and can be busy ,Germany if you travel down the rivers there are many Stelpatz but again can be very busy. I have found that a lot of Yacht basins/Marina's in Germany are now catering for motorhomes so its worth a look there .

Is there such a thing as an universal tog tag that will cover say, France, Belgium, Holland and others?

Careful!
If over 3.5t it may be less expensive without a tag, here's why.
If applying for a tag it may be necessary to provide proof of vehicles specifications and if over 3.5t you will be charged accordingly.
If over 3.5t and paying at a toll gate it's usually possible to blag the not exceeding 3.5t rate if being asked for a higher rate.

We are under 3.5 ton but being an overcab coach build we are a touch over 3 metre high.

The trailer is been left at home.
Instead last Saturday I build a support frame to take the rear bike rack weight onto the hitch. With my kids now using adult bikes, there is a fair weight sitting on the rack.
 

While it might not be the prettiest, it will do the job.

A rough itinery.
We have divided our trip into 5 blocks of 4 days.
Block 1.
Make our way across northern France and Belgian border.
Block 2.
4 nights booked in a campsite on the river Mosselle between Luxembourg and Germany.
Block 3.
Head north , roughly following the Mosselle.
Block 4.
Campsite booked just east of Eindhoven in Holland.
Block 5.
4 or 5 days to wander back to Cherbourg.
The troops have researched a list of attractions and aire and stopovers for our unbooked nights.
There are requests a visit some big cities, but I would prefer to park a hour away and take a bus or train into them. The open top, hop on/ off city bus tours are a good snap shot of a place.
This will be sorted over the weekend.
From our previous trips, we usually end up not sticking to a rigid plan.

There's a very nice campsite in Remich, from memory if you walk out the front gate you're in Germany and out the back, in Luxembourg. The drive up the Moselle valley is something else. Enjoy....

Well casted off from Dublin port on Saturday afternoon.
Not to sure as what to make of the layout of the WB Yeats
The open plan layout of the seating and food areas of deck 9 is very similar to a shopping centre food court. Alot of people moving around other people who are eating.
The truckers lounge is alot quieter and is easily accessible by all passengers.
We adjusted our bookings about 2 weeks ago but I used a contact who runs a commercial bus company.
Instead of a refund, he got us club class access.
Free canopies, pastries, scones, buns, tea, coffee and minerals.
Very quiet and peaceful with private wifi, as good as at home.
The 4 bunk cabins are similar to the Oscar wilde. However the builders must have forgotten to use insulation in the division walls. A hushed neighbouring conversation is easily heard next door.

Left Cherbourg today about 1 pmish and we hit the road.
As we were heading for Cean, we realized that French supermarkets are closed on Sunday afternoon.
We were stocked with dry foods like pasta and rice , we had no fresh food on board, milk, salad, bread, etc.
But we didn't starve.
Pass, Cean, Le Lavare and on towards Amiens.
Currently in a municipality campsite about 20 kms west of Amiens.

We had a stop outside of Loan in France until Wednesday afternoon.
Afterwards we headed northeast towards the Belgian border where we stopped at a small marina for the night, which in hindsight was silly due to the mossies.
Wednesday night was cruel warm, mid 30°c at 10pm.
Thursday morning we headed on into Belgium before entering Luxembourg.
The queues for fuel at the filling stations and prices at about €1.20
We opted to move further into the city away from the motorway and got diesel at €1.05?
Due to the heatwave the troops requested that we move on to our booked campsite.
