Just home from Dungarvan. Great spot there. No problem from council, all they have is a sign asking camper vans not to leave bags of rubbish beside the bins, but to bring them to the civic amenities area, along with its opening times. Great. Only thing when I arrived there were 4 other vans there and despite there being loads of parking all of them were parked on the 4 bays marked BUS PARKING ONLY. Am I missing something. Why with all the free spaces would you park in the only spaces not allowed. 😡. Didn’t see any craic stickers though. More arrived in the evening with one into the Bus parking.

Very interesting.
The sign about the rubbish seems to make the place 'unofficially official' :-/ . I wonder how close the council is to actually providing Dungarvan with an official parking area like has been provided in Cobh and Castletownbere

I read someplace in the past that there was a €40 fine for parking on the Bus bays. Was it busy David? would you get a parking spot on a Saturday evening apart from the Bus Bays? its on our to do list before the silly season starts.

Aire is the irish for Attention as in stand at.

I've been there a few times during last summer, only saw buses parking there during the daytime. I'd imagine it would be a tight enough area to get into with the parking on the approach road.

Pat I have only been twice. Busy enough even in February. Last time was the Sunday of the Easter weekend. You can still park on the water side of the area, just that you have your back to the water/ view. The earlier you could arrive the better chance of getting a good spot. However I have seen approximately 20 vans there on a drive by, and you could still squeeze in if you weren’t too fussy. I’d recommend it. No sign anywhere about fines

I wonder what the French would make of a sign saying “Aire - No Campervans” ?

I think all the bars and restaurants might have been involved in that, the times I've been there, they all love the MHs and all the businesses they bring.

Vans always park in the bus lanes, even when there's tons of space. The reason being is that the bays are just bigger, but still... that's how they lock it down again :(
