There is always something on your ‘wish list’, even though we are on our 2nd motorhome we would like a lower fixed bed, and better seating arrangement, have 2 swivel Captain seats which fold down, and bed drops down to mid height.and bench seat opposite side of table.

Do you have, or know of a MAKE/MODEL that would suit us?
Fiat Ducato, 6.5m long but could possibly manage bit more, but less than 7m.

Possibly a Dethleffs Advantage or Chausson Flash or Allegro, fixed bed will always be a bit high due to the boot being under it

Bailey advance 662. No fixed bed, just two long sofas making great single beds. We love ours so far. We previously caravanned but hated climbing over each other at night. Also, it gives more loving space. The fixed bed models in this length seem to sacrifice lounge or washroom. We mainly caravan in Ireland so spend lots of time in the van!,

Well if derm41 and his caravanning partner hated climbing over each other at night then why do they need more loving space?

Fair enough.loving space is good, but sadly space to nip to the loo at 3 in the morning after a few beers outranks it at the moment!!

Thanks for the heads up on Maynooth Motorhomes Dave. Decent to do business with and only took 35 minutes from the job. Happy with that.

We went by car to Anchorpoint today, very heavy rain weather in places, there from 10.15 - 3pm.
Looked at 5 MHs in particular that were under 7 m. Interesting layouts but didn’t make any decision.

As our Mh has only one exit door, (great storage area instead of door) but I was always conscious of it and missed having cab door....wow the step was so high off the ground....I found extremely difficult!! ...but ok at habitation door, I thought it would be same as my previous car which was. Scudo Panorama as cab area is the same.

Our current Mh was bought in Thompson’s 3 years ago, but as it had been originally registered in ROI, we didn’t pay the VRT, but I see the the prices quoted are in £ and € incl VRT. Does one buy now or wait till after Brexit?

That is the big question, if it were me I would do it now as the UK is leaving the EU and the rules will change in that you are more likely to have extra taxes added, not guaranteed to be added but more likely

A great layout with the fixed bed at rear and great lounge area at the front is the Kontiki 665s.
Although longer than you mention at 7.66 metre the layout Is good.

Link and pictures here:

Unfortunately Jon even 7m will be a squeeze the way we have to park alongside our cars in small driveway.
I think there may even be some readjusting of a low wall for maneuvering anything longer than current 6.5m + bicycle rack.

Good to actually see the MHs after viewing the photos on website.
Wide angle lens can make a place look bigger inside, it makes me appreciate that the space in our own MH is fine.
Main reason for change was more seating but I felt only gained one seat, and the L shaped seat may look bigger but still only fits two adults (leg room when sitting around table) unless fitting kids in between, still can only travel with 4 seat belts.

I found everything quite tight, especially toilet and kitchen areas, but can’t have everything.
Everyone is amazed when they see our spacious toilet area.

Most had the electric drop down bed (so if no EHU does that work on leisure battery?) but still requires ladder.
The one with island bed, at first glance looked short but extra length when end pulled out.
I also feel the very dark brown or tan “wood” interior of newer MHs not as nice as the paler colour scheme of earlier models.

When it comes to interiors do women see things differently to men???

It was an interesting day out, only saw one other couple.
James was great, he showed us around, and left us to examine MHs in more detail
I saw ACSI 2019 books @€15.

This does not have a fixed bed, but it is just under 7m long the back bed drops down to the lounge at the rear and is a lot lower than drop downs over the hab area. It also has decent storage and a small garage.
Anchorpoint are mobilvetta dealers.

Have you considered rearranging the fittings in your own van ,to make it more Rosemary friendly ?

Martin, The original table was substituted for a narrower wooden table top using same fittings.
I recently bought when Lidl/Aldi had mobility aids, a shower seat (ones without a back rest) light but sturdy, as extra seat for visitors/ for 3rd person to be able to view TV/ eating at table ( driver captain seat bit far from table).
Also bought the low wide single step, when Mh up on levellers, electric step also higher...I have hip& back problems.

The electric drop down bed...if anyone has one, what do you think of them.
Do you leave bedding on it before raising it.
I noticed some drop down beds have the other assembled bed immediately below.

Back to me again, we have now visited the usual 3 main motorhome dealers in Ireland, lovely salesmen, with plenty of choice on display but we are limited to under 7m. Found perfect layout...toilet area perhaps a bit tight, but on closer examination realised with it (and then any others that were in the running) the Payload was 388kg. Then we found another with better payload but still to add those extras you come to expect as normally fitted...awning, electric step, space for your things like outdoors furniture..it all adds up. I wrote a list of everything we bring in our Mh and where it would go in a new one, especially with a greatly reduced garage space. We can only go to max weigh Mh of 3500kg. I never remember this last time except we did put it on weighbridge and were happy with anything we would be adding. Has anyone ever been checked for their MH weight, we don’t bring home heavy purchases like cases of wine from France.

I think the biggest shock was the trade-in value , suddenly you appreciate your motorhome in a different way.
Maybe we were rushing it to buy before “that” date, or paperwork completed before trip to France.
So no change for us at the moment.

They are worth a fortune when you are purchasing them. And practically worthless when you are selling them.
The salesman’s mantra 😡. I’d stick with what you have Rosemary. At least you know it’s reliable. Try make a workaround any issues that annoy you about it.
We also considered updating ours, but couldn’t find anything that came close to giving us the same room as ours, so created a few workarounds to make things suit us better
