Please do keep us posted. As I have said before, I just am unsure it works they way it is described on the site.

I would join it if I could speak to someone who uses it and they answer the questions I have.

I have heard a few comments that some of the places are not all that they are cracked up to be but I think that he is going to try and have them checked out now before he signs anyone up as a safe parking area. should know more after next weekend.

Hi (i'm new to this site ) and its great to get some info at last ! have only recently joined the camper van bridgade and have also joined Safe Nights ! You get a small sticker for your van and a small card with your name on it ! then you must go to the web page and print the safe night locations yourself ! i did that but a lot of the places just have a phone number not a actual location where you can go and seemingly park up for the night ! So who you are ringing is anyone's guess ?? not really happy with this as I taught it would be a little more professional and more clear where you could stay without having to ring strangers !! Has anyone used or rang these numbers and are they genuine ?? Thanks in advance for your help !!

you wasted your money,
the places they list are free stopovers anyway.
post on here the direction you are heading and others will give you suggestions for that area.

many have tried to contact safe nights but once you pay your money you wont here from them again.

Not all are free, I only ever used one, a pub car park in Ballyconnell, Cavan and it cost me 10 Euro /night, However the Owner did'nt mind if I was regestered with safe nights or not.

was going to use a location in Clare last week but when I rang the number the lady told me she was no longer a member. i emailed SNI and respectfully suggested that they get their act together to verify locations and have a valid list on the website at all times. A bit pointless otherwise and they won't be seeing my money in 2013 until they can assure me that this has been done. It's a great idea and I will support it once they can iron out the problems.

We joined for two years, but didnt this year. The only time we were going to use it was in Killarney, and when i phoned the man, he said he had sold his premises and as a result couldnt do it anymore..

The guy who started safe nights is from Co. Limerick. seemingly he would live under a stone himeslf, he has a full time job and doing this on the side, so making alot of money from it..The person who wants to use the facilities pays 20euro per year to join, and the people with the places to stay, pay 100 euro per year, so he is making quite alot of money on it all..

I have tried to use these sites a number of times without success for the following reasons.

1. GPS readings are wrong.
2. Gone out of business.
3. Access to narrow/steep for a motorhome. (only suitable for cars)
4 No parking space.
5. Site owners don't know what you are talking about when you ring them up and say "Safe Nights".
6. Site does not exist.

Correction re above Membership costs 12.50e and the site owner doe not pay anything to SNI (no 100e fee)

Thanks for the info Sandy.

It looks like you have just confirmed what many of us have been thinking for some time.

I will definitely be giving it a miss.

Have personally met the man at MOTORHOME show in Dublin and on my travels have also been a member think he and his wife have done more good than bad not everything in life is perfect think his heart is in the right place very passionate about what they have done and are doing .12 Euros won't make them Millionaires, some possibly a bit to quick to judge without knowledge always two sides to a coin. This is my own personal opinion.

Cheers Barry
Valid points indeed
The events Limerick direction look fantastic, but with motorhome craic and 1231 members on a forum in less than 2 years and daily updates on sites and stop overs, I believe this is the way forward. Subscription benefits are cheaper with Poi and feedback from those that have used the stop overs, and listing of one of events such as meets and festivals are beneficial to local Motorhomers and tourists.
Long live the craic
