Darren (big d) can tell you the history as it was his Father's bus and they used it as a camper for years.

I have a few more photos.

1968 Bedford Bus/Ambulance converted to Camper.

Both look fantastic but the Bedford is absolutely class. It couldn't have been an ambulance had to be bus. I must dig out photos of converted Austin Morris ambulance I had many years ago. Many a great holiday was had in it when kids were young. Ahhh memories

From what I've read they were used as ambulances also. But I may be wrong.

Would they not have had rear doors for stretchers? Could have been mini bus used by Ambulance service maybe.

That makes sense right enough, but I think they used the same vehicle.

If it's a front engined van, then there'd be plenty of room to slide a stretcher in through that big hatch on the back! :D

It is front engined but I'd say they used a different body on the same chassis for ambulance

that is one of the SB series buses, the body may have been made by one of the bus people of the time like Duple, Marshall, Plaxton, Harrington. The Ambulance of the same era Ca type would have had a snub or long nose front with two front doors and all had rear doors, mostly built by Herbert Lomas ltd.

Its a 20 seater Duple mini coach, The TK series was coming in ,you would need the chassis no , probally got a 220 diesel engine and if was on N.I. health service would have been used for nurses transportation and probally did an out patient collection of walking wounded, you dont have to have stretcher fitments to be an ambulance. There was one sold in Leicester earlier this year for £10,000
