I read about this before, and it made me think of our satnav. It has a built in camera. Does this make it unuseable in the the countries with a ban on dash cams?

Would think so, but can you not disable the camera separately from the SatNav?

That's crazy that you're not allowed to have one. I get the conditions on where it shouldn't obstruct the view and the fact that you can't make yourself a youtuber out of it but yikes... never thought about it being illegal.

Thank you for bringing this up!

Saw that article last week.
Similar to the dash cam, using a sat nat with police speed detection zone is also illegal in some mainland European countries.

Yeah Ally it can. Never thought of that. Although Mal makes a point about satnavs with speed camera detection on them being illegal in some countries, so thats another i would have to check.

My Tom Tom automatically turns off the speed camera detection when in France.

Interesting. I am using a dash cam for the last 5 weeks in France. Good to know the implications re downloading etc.
Question re Sat Navs: my sat nav alerts me to changes in the speed limits on the various roads, but I take it that ‘detecting speed detection equipment’ is not the same thing?? Not sure if my machine has that facility.
