At the southern end of the Romantic Road spend a day at Fussen (very good Stellplatz €10) and visit Neuschwanstein Castle.
On the 294/500 route through the Black Forest Schiltach (on the 294) is a really beautiful ancient town and has a lovely campsite on the river bank.
If you are visiting Heidleberg there is a lovely riverside campsite up the river Neckar at Neckargemund from which you can get to Heidleberg by bus or river boat.

On the way a night or two at Han-sur-Lesse in Belgium (a section of the coach park is a free Aire) to visit the magnificent caves and the enclosed mountain with wildlife of Europe from the past http://www.grotte-de-han.be/ is well worth the time.
